BMW featured marque at Watkins Glen HSR weekend

Historic Sportscar Racing hosted BMW as the featured marque at the Watkins Glen grand prix circuit on the weekend of June 7-9, 2002. In addition to the many classes and cars normally attending HSR events, several significant endurance racing BMW's were presented for a brief on track demonstration. These included an M1, driven by Brian Redman; the '82 March/BMW GTP IMSA racer; the '86 March/BMW GTP (which did not turn a wheel); Davey Jones drove a McLaren F1 GTR LM - BMW V12 (the #39, which finished 8th overall and second in class with Nelson Piquet/Johnny Cecetto/Danny Sullivan at the 1996 Le Mans 24H); the fabulous '99 LMR V12 (this particular car was the '99 Sebring winner), shoed by Pete Halsmer; and two examples of recent M3's, including the banned from ALMS/ACO competition 4.0L V8 GTR, in the capable hands of Boris Said.
