So what's a TQ Midget? A TQ (or three quarter) Midget is a single seat, open wheel, purpose built racecar. Power is supplied by a carbureted, gasoline burning, 750cc 4 stroke motorcycle engine, typically the Kawasaki ZX-7, or, as in my case, the Suzuki GSX-R, producing approximately 120hp. All cars have offset engines, with a driveshaft connected to a quick change rear end. Coil-over or torsion bar suspensions are equally popular. A wheelbase of only 66", a minimum weight of 650lbs., and slick tires make these rockets real handfuls. All races are run on short, asphalt ovals (no dirt! dirt's for growing vegetables), ranging in size from one fifth of a mile to a ½ mile.
